How to Upgrade the CarpuTech CarPlay Decoder System

Here we will explain how to perform a system upgrade and an MCU upgrade. This instruction applies to the Lexus CarPlay decoder.

1. Format the USB drive to FAT32.

2. Copy the system files we sent you to the root directory of the USB drive.

3. Insert the USB drive into our USB port on the system interface.

4. Go to Settings > System > Firmware Update.

5. Updating in progress.

6. After the update is complete, go to Settings and check the system to confirm the version has been updated.

MCU upgrade

Great Upgrade for 2015 Lexus RX350 F Sport

This aftermarket head unit completely modernized my 2015's interior tech. The interface is clean and fast — a huge upgrade from the factory system. Apple CarPlay works smoothly for maps, calls, and music, making drives so much easier. The upgraded backup camera is sharper with a wider view and adjustable guidelines, making parking way less stressful. Great upgrade, easy to use

I had an Android based system for about 6 years. It was giving me a few issues, and it was always a clunky to navigate. The new Linux based system was not only easy to install, its very easy to use; and completely wireless with Bluetooth.

Taking out the old android and swapping with this took be about 90 mins including clean up, etc. A straight factory swap will be even faster.

Also, the customer support from Caputech is really incredible. I received an email from their team to validate compatabilty before shipping. Any questions I raised, they had an answer in under 1 day. Really amazing support!

A huge upgrade at a great price

We purchased the 12.3-inch Linux System for our 2014 BMW X3, and Carputech immediately got in touch with us to confirm the details of our vehicle to make sure we were purchasing the correct system (we were, but I appreciated them checking). It arrived very well-packaged and in perfect condition.

My only complaint is the included instructions, they are very vague and the photos had such high contrast it was impossible to make out any details. Fortunately, YouTube has you covered. I highly recommend the installation video by Professor's Garage, and he had a $30 discount code on his video as well - and it worked! No splicing was necessary and the installation went very well. The screen looks great with very high resolution and a premium appearance; it looks like it came with the vehicle from the factory. We are familiar with Android Auto from our other vehicle so no surprises there, it works great as it should. What really impressed me is how well their unit works with the original BMW software system, and how simple it is to switch from one to the other. All the original BMW functionality is there, including steering wheel controls - which you can customize in the Carputech settings. I can access voice commands and navigation from the steering wheel, and the Carputech voice assistant works great and functions seamlessly with apps you want to control. Sound quality is great and the system works perfectly.

I highly recommend Carputech!

My commute is now wonderful!

I never particularly cared for the factory infotainment screen in my benz. Ugly, small monochrome display that could only be operated with steering and know buttons. Outdated factory navigation and only one option at a time. This new Linux screen seamlessly pairs with my phone and enabled multiple split touch screen options. Screen boots up in seconds, high resolution color and eliminated the ugly large AC vents(new sleek vents with clock were provided) Users also have the option of mirroring their phones for those "apps". It was easy to install. Took me less than 2 hours due to the fact that I was nervous. The factory back up camera and all factory switches and knobs still work as intended. I should have done this years ago.

Easy install, plug and play. Works great and has good audio and video output. with the mouse pad it is a little finicky and needs getting used to but overall good buy. This unit is a half screen set up, not full screen for the 2013 model. The pictures make it seem like you are buying the full screen set up… kinda misleading

Wireless CarPlay for Mercedes Benz E-Class W212

The Carputech Android Auto module is a fantastic upgrade for my Mercedes E-Class W212, making the car feel much more modern. The integration of Google Maps and Spotify is seamless, and the image quality on the original screen is excellent. While the installation requires some patience. Especially regarding the delicate ribbon cables and the correct DIP switch settings for the display. The result is well worth the effort. A special thanks to Mike from the support team, who was incredibly helpful and responsive on WhatsApp even at late hours.
