I recommend the update
A bit tricky during the first install, but watch/follow the instruction video an entire time or two before installing. Everything works great! Installed in a 2014 F-250 platinum and this required swapping the initial backplate with the spare they included (remove board and install on new backplate). Once installed the touchscreen was inversed, so doing a touch-screen calibration was necessary (youtube has videos on how to access this factory menu). Another thing I found was dismounting the CD player for the new cabling (need to dismount it to access the cables), remember to do that. I ran the USB and microphone through the driver side panel as that was easier than running it through the passenger side.
